The Black Woman Opt out
To Disrupt The Savior Culture Imposed on Black Women
The Movement
Our Mission
Black women are TIRED. We are at a crossroads in our lives where the pull to lead a softer, less busy life is winning over the self important titles, pleasing others, and being Super Woman.
Welcome to The Black Woman Opt Out, a revolutionary lifestyle pivot. In a world that constantly demands more from Black women, we've created a haven where tired souls can find solace. We understand that the juggling act of modern life has left us yearning for simplicity, balance, and empowerment.
We are here to disrupt the savior culture imposed on Black women by creating a holistic ecosystem where ease, empowerment, and intentional living are at the center. Through a collective approach that prioritizes boundaries, serenity, and empowerment, we help Black women opt out of what no longer serves them and step into lives filled with softness, success, and joy.
What We Live By
Ease is about choosing a life where balance, joy, and calm are prioritized. It’s not about avoiding challenge or growth but embracing a lifestyle that isn’t rushed or constantly in turmoil. It’s about creating space for pleasure, joy, and self-care—living softly and thriving boldly. Ease is the art of living intentionally, where every decision aligns with personal well-being and peace.
Empowerment begins with the ability to set clear, healthy boundaries.
The Fancy F U boundary mastery program is central to this, helping women learn how to say no to what drains them and yes to what fuels them. Empowerment is about choosing yourself first—honoring your time, your energy, and your well-being, without guilt or compromise. It’s the courage to protect your peace and make choices that are aligned with your highest good.
Empathy is central to The Black Woman Opt Out brand. We recognize the unique struggles Black women face and the need for a community that understands, supports, and uplifts. Through our various offerings, we create a safe space for women to be seen, heard, and empowered. Empathy connects us as we build a collective approach to healing, growth, and empowerment.
Elegance is about maintaining grace and poise, even while standing firm in your boundaries. It’s the gentle yet powerful act of choosing peace, living intentionally, and carrying yourself with dignity. Elegance is the embodiment of softness as strength—it reminds women that they can create luxurious, empowered lives without stress, without striving, and without compromise. Elegance is the expression of serenity and empowerment through every decision, every action, and every interaction.
Here are the facts
The savior culture, rooted in the "Strong Black Woman" trope, perpetuates the idea that Black women must always be the caretakers, problem solvers, and emotional anchors for others—often at the expense of their own well-being. This expectation not only silences their struggles but also normalizes burnout, emotional suppression, and neglect of self-care.
40% of Black women report feeling like they have to suppress emotions or “keep it together” to meet societal expectations.
Black women aged 18–65 years, have the highest risk for suicide irrespective of their socioeconomic status, while Black women in the highest income strata had a 20% increase in the odds of suicide/self-inflicted injury compared to white women in the lowest socioeconomic strata.
Black women are at high risk of depression, with some studies reporting that 60% experience symptoms.
Black women are more likely to experience severe psychological distress than their White counterparts due to systemic racism, economic disparities, and historical trauma.
